The accounts of women in history are often unrecorded or erased and their contributions quickly forgotten. Authors Gay Lynch and Danielle Clode discuss some of the challenges in reconstructing these lost stories from history through both fiction and biography.

Gay Lynch presents ‘Unsettled’. Set in Gambierton (formally Mount Gambier) in the 1800s, exploring Australia’s colonial and settlement history through the eyes of the Lynch family. An exploration of the Irish, the feminine, the local Boandik culture, and reference to Father Tenison Woods, the wreck of the Admella and Adam Gordon Lindsay.

Danielle Clode presents ‘In Search of the Women Who Sailed the World’. When the first woman to circumnavigate the world completed her journey in 1775, she returned home without any fanfare at all. For over two centuries the identity of Jeanne Barret was unknown, as she disguised herself as a man and undertook the perilous sea journey.
