Kay Mitchell
Jaii’s Journey; My boy with a broken wing
Baby Jaii from India is adopted into the Mitchell family in 1980. Upon arrival, he is rushed to the Adelaide Children’s Hospital with doctors unsure of his survival.
Further diagnoses include pneumonia, a collapsed lung, heart murmur, blindness, dehydration and malnutrition. He later underwent brain surgery developing epilepsy and was identified as profoundly deaf.
With multiple opinions unsure of Jaii’s future – everyone underestimated his tenacity and will to live.
This is Jaii’s inspirational journey documented by his mother, Kay.
Written with love, passion, sensitivity and a touch of humour, but also at times with anger, frustration and raw emotion.
