JUSQU’À 70 Exhibition
August 9 @ 1:30 pm - September 28 @ 3:00 pm
Gallery 54 in Penola has reopened its exhibition space with the introduction of this exceptional artist, Sally O’Connor. Sally is a Mount Gambier based artist who has been actively involved with Artsparks Art Therapy, Thumb Print Workshop Inc and Life Drawing Mount Gambier.
She draws much of her inspiration from nature and is amazed by its power; the rhythms of life and death surrounding us every day. Her childhood on a farm was a rich environment to cultivate this interest. With manipulations, repetitions and distortions she creates evocative images in a semi abstract format. Her aim is to engage the viewer emotionally to look more closely and maybe wonder what or why?
Sally enjoys work with Japanese woodblock prints and is drawn to the softness of the Huon Pine which lends itself to accurate reproduction of images.
Visitors will be amazed at the scope covered by Sally’s talent. Works on display include Japanese woodblock prints, pencil, ink, graphite, charcoal, watercolour and further delving into the printmaking process.
The public is invited to join Sally at Gallery 54, 54 Church Street, Penola on Sunday 9th August at 1.30pm to talk with the artist. Sally’s work will be on display until Monday 28th September and all works will be for sale.
