Established in 1860 the Mount Gambier A&H Society provides the community with a major source of fun and entertainment, whether it’s the thrills of the side shows, the promise of show bags, or the enticement of the usual hot cinnamon doughnuts, the Mount Gambier show has something for all ages.

Held on the third weekend of October (after the first full week) the show is the largest of its kind outside of the Royal Adelaide Show and sees around 10,000 people through its gates over the three day event from all walks of life and parts of South Australia and the Western Districts of Victoria.

In addition to the main features like the indoor and outdoor trade exhibits, beef & dairy cattle, horses in action, sheep, yard dog trials, log chopping, budgerigars and poultry the show is always seeking to improve by introducing new additions such as the centralised community hub offering a host of free entertainment.

The Agriculture Learning Centre has been developed to promote programs and activities of our schools through the theme of agriculture. Children will learn about agriculture through a range of static and interactive displays, presentations and activities. The will be encouraged to touch, taste, look, listen and learn about farming and food production.

Saturday evening concludes with the fireworks spectacular, presented by the original Howard and Sons Pyrotechnics the display shines a kaleidoscope of coloured light over the arena, with various ground and aerial effects.
