Post and Rail Open Garden Weekend
March 28, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
One event on March 28, 2021 at 10:00 am
This year Cindy Cross will be opening the garden through the Open Garden Scheme of South Australia over two days. This event will be raising money at the gate for the Anti Cancer Foundation of Mount Gambier and is $8 to get in, pay at the gate.
To enhance the two open days some fellow local, hand crafted artisans and stall holders have been invited.
At this stage there is a coffee van (thank goodness!) various food stalls, including Heirloom Pumpkin Soup made from our Pumpkins.
Also to delight us all there’ll be plants for sale, local pottery, weaving, jewelry, art work and much more.
There will be a presentation on Saturday 11am – Preserving the harvest and 2pm propagation
On Sunday – 11am Propagation and Sunday 2pm Preserve the harvest.
It’s a large garden over 1 acre with the focus being on the Potager Garden, or the productive garden and it is in full swing. Don’t expect pristine paths and perfect anything. Cindy grows this garden for produce and pleasure and my love of heirloom varieties is everywhere.
You’re invited to really immerse yourself in this garden, pinch the herbs, taste the tomatoes and apples and share in the bounty.
This is where most of my classes end up at some stage, even if it’s only to pick a few herbs, down to harvesting anything we can find and then go and make something delicious with it.
