Make sure you spend some time enjoying our outstanding playgrounds. The Valley Lakes Precinct is home to an incredible adventure playground with wheelchair facilities. The Railway Lands has a nature play area perfect for the little ones and Vansittart Park also has a playground you won’t want to miss. There are also other smaller playgrounds around town too.
Feed the possums at Umpherston Sinkhole
At the unique Umpherston Sinkhole, the resident possums come out and play at dusk. Make sure you pack some fresh fruit and veggies for you to give them. It is important to remember that these possums are wild, so be careful. It is also a great place for a picnic, with BBQ facilities on site.

Meet the animals at Echo Farm
Experience life on a small working farm & take the self-guided Echo Farm walk to meet & greet the animals in a farm environment. Including goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, pigs, emu, sheep, cats, geese, wallaby & donkey. Echo Farm offer an old style farm experience with animal interaction. Help feed some of the animals and pet some of the favorites. There is also a small selection of soft drinks, homemade biscuits and preserves as well as souvenirs for sale.

Why not explore Mount Gambier by bike? Follow along the Rail Trail, or visit the local sites. More adventurous riders can explore the Mountain Trail at the Valley Lakes, ride the BMX track at Hastings Cutting Reserve, or head to Dimjalla Skate Park. There something for all levels.

Cool off at the Aquatic Centre
Cool down during the summer months at the local pool. With three pools, an obstacle course, playground and beach volleyball, it’s a great wy to spend the day with the kids. There is a kiosk and BBQ facilities on site. The centre is only open during November – March.
