Welcome to Bunganditj Country – Nature & Cultural Walk of Naracoorte Caves

While the park is most famous for its World Heritage listed caves, the park also protects a large area of remnant native vegetation with a diverse variety of plant and animal species. Join Bunganditj Elder, Uncle Ken Jones for a Welcome to Country and nature walk. Uncle Ken will lead you on a walk through the park and share his knowledge about life in the area prior to European settlement, the plants and animals, bush foods, bush medicines and plants that are useful for weaving, tools and weapons.

As you walk with Uncle Ken, there will be time to smell, touch and taste the special local plants familiar to Bunganditj people. Uncle Ken will also share some words from Bunganditj language of bird and place names, recall family stories and touch on a legend or two. This will be an easy walk with lots of interaction and time for questions.
