Be welcomed by the ‘new’ owners of Pine Country Caravan Park – Nathan and Emma, along with their two children, Bobbi and Willson, and their two dogs, Chloe and Sydney.

Nathan and Emma took over the next chapter of the small, relaxing park in October 2018. This country caravan park is perfect for those looking for the nature based experience, close to the city centre. With cabins, powered sites and natural unpowered camping site, the park has something to meet everyone’s needs – even your four-legged friends!

To help you get to know this friendly family, we asked them a few questions about themselves, their property and all of the exciting things they have going on.

What made your family move to Mount Gambier?

After living abroad for more than a decade, we wanted to return to an environment that would support a nice work/life balance. My (Emma) family is originally from Robe, so Mount Gambier was appealing. It is lovely having family not too far away.

When we discovered Pine Country Caravan Park we felt that it would be a business that could support our work/life intention. The park is a beautiful place to raise our children and we feel pretty special to be able to live here and share it with others.

What do you do love most about the region?

Mount Gambier has truly exceeded our expectations! It is a fabulous place to bring up a young family, it has the country vibe but all the comforts of a big city. We can’t wait to get out a bit more and explore all the great wineries that are at our door step. It is great to be able to jump in the car and have little day trips exploring all the neighbouring towns. The kids love Valley Lake, walks up the Centenary Tower, ice creams at Badenochs and endless visits to the local hardware stores…the vibrant café culture is also a bonus!

Do you enjoy about being a part of the tourism industry here in Mount Gambier?

There is never a dull day in the tourism industry. The people you meet and the conversations you have on a daily basis are pretty inspiring. There are a huge number of Australians taking a year off to travel around the country with their family, I really admire these families and it is pretty special to think we are playing a small role in their big adventure. It is also great to hear how overseas travellers perceive our country. The stories and wisdom shared by absolute strangers is very humbling.

We see so many great reviews about Pine Country, what do visitors enjoy most about the park?

Definitely the laid back country vibe, the wide open space and natural surroundings. We have a huge open un-powered area where guests really feel like they are in the country, yet we are still so close to the centre of town and of course the Blue Lake. The feedback we often receive from our guests is how welcoming and homely the park feels, this is our biggest compliment and we love that guest feel like they are a part of something. We have recently included Doggy Day Care facilities which is very popular for guests travelling with their pets along with our large off-lead dog paddock. The fairy lights over the BBQ area and the music played in the toilets are also other special features that our guest talk about.

We see you have re-branded the park, do you have any future plans to further develop the park?

Oh gosh our wish list is endless, our cabin up-grade project will begin once we step into our quieter seasons. We are really conscious not to distract from the natural country setting, but we have lots of improvements planned throughout all of the facilities. We have also started collaborating with other businesses in the local community, this encourages guests to spend locally and support small businesses this is really important to us.

Now it’s time for you to come and meet Nathan, Emma and the gang yourself!
